Valeria Todeschi is a Project Officer at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, where she works on urban and local climate actions and policies, supporting the EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission and the Covenant of Mayors initiative. Part of her work focuses on the analysis of cities' Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs), with a particular emphasis on financing climate action at local level. Her recent work includes the Covenant of Mayors guidebook on financing climate and energy measures. She combines policy-oriented research with technical expertise in GIS-based energy modelling and GHG emissions analysis at city level. She holds a degree in Regional, Urban and Landscape-Environment Planning and a PhD in Energetics from Politecnico di Torino (Future Urban Legacy Lab, 2022), and an Advanced Master in GIScience from Università di Padova. Before joining the JRC, she worked as GIS analyst and urban energy planner at AMAT, the City of Milan's agency for mobility and environment.
