Ighor has worked as policy advisor in the Climate Team of the City of Mechelen since 2018. He is responsible for the municipal Heat Plan, in which the City of Mechelen developed a sustainable heat strategy to decarbonise the built environment. The City of Mechelen was a beneficiary of the second call of the European City Facility. 

Previously, he worked as a researcher at the Flemish research institute VITO/Energyville in the smart energy in the built environment team, contributing to several ambitious EU research projects.
